Fading ImagesIn this tutorial, you will learn how to create a soft fade from an image into its background.Step 1: Create a new document, background contents white, to fit the size of your image. The one in the example here is 292x279. ![]() Step 2: Fill the background with any color, preferably one that fits the color scheme of your image. I'll be using #2C0F2B. ![]() Step 3: Paste in the image. Try to make it fit on the page as best as you can. =) ![]() Step 4: Select the rectangular marquee tool and change the settings at the top
so it looks as shown: ![]() For now, we'll be using a feather of 20px, but the smaller the image is, the smaller the feather value should be, and vice versa. Step 5: Select the whole image. You will notice that the corners of the selection automatically become rounded. ![]() Step 6: Invert the selection by pressing Ctrl+Shift+I or Going to Select -> Inverse. ![]() Step 7: Press delete as many times as necessary until your image looks sufficiently "faded".
